Rescue and Recovery

To handle the mine-specific emergencies and to provide rescue facilities to the miners trapped in underground mines as well as open quarries, and for recovery and rehabilitation of mine, a rescue and recovery service is operational since 1983. To perform these functions, a main Rescue & Safety Station is established at Khushab, two Sub-Stations at Makerwal and Choa Saiden Shah and an Area Sub-Station at Munara.

The main objects to establish these Rescue Stations are:

  • To provide prompt rescue facilities to the persons involved in accidents or disasters in mines
  • To train rescue teams at different mines and to help these teams during the emergencies at the mines
  • To hold refresher courses for teams employed by individual mine owners
  • To hold periodical exercises in mines and to acquaint workers with the changing conditions of the mines because of development work
  • To hold tests of competency in Rescue Operations and to grant certificates to the successful persons
